I buy Charlotte, Meep and Munchkin the Pets at Home food for £1.99 and wondered after 4 weeks should it be thrown away. Peter seems to think it was lose vitamins if left open over a period of time so wondered what those of you with hamsters do! :)

Betty has that too, she likes the banana chips :) I pour it out of the bag into a air tight tub the day I buy it, seems to be fine to me. I wouldn't chuck it, the amount they eat, I would be surprised if Betty ate a quater of a bag in four weeks!

I would have though that as it was dried, all the vitamins were locked in. Maybe not. I would go with the airtight container as well if I had any doubts.

Thanks will do that! I know its only a couple of pound per bag but its a shame to waste it and buy more in each month. I buy my food in once a month then I know how much to budget for veg!!!

the mices food (it's a mix of wilko hamster, p@h hamster and wilkos rat food  )
I keep in an air tight tub

I used to have a big bag of P@H for my hamsters, I just taped the top of the bag down and it didn;t seem to deteriorate in any way visually, so I imagine the content didn;t degrade either

if it's passed it's best before date, tehn I think the levels will have degraded in it, otherwise it would be fine :)
